Have you ever wondered why your competition sells more than you? Why doesn't your average ticket go back no matter how much your sales team throws smoke? You have the most exclusive travel itineraries, you take care of your customers with care and your prices are competitive, but when it comes to closing the sale something goes wrong.
Do we tell you a secret? It's not the content that fails, but the continent. You cannot sell dreams wrapped in simple kraft paper, because no one believes that their destiny, long desired and a thousand times imagined, comes in that package.
A few weeks ago we shared on our blog a post with several free apps that would make your life easier, and we recommend that you review it.
So that your business actions are up to par with your product and don't fail again, we share with you the 7 basic steps to create an absolutely irresistible travel proposal:
1.- Start dreaming from the first page. Don't get tangled up with tedious details that the customer doesn't need in this first phase. On the contrary: show him right from the start why your proposal corresponds to the trip of his dreams in a very visual way. Include your best photos, an outline plan with the highlights of the itinerary, information about the hotels you have carefully chosen... The dream begins now!
2.- Agility vs. perfection. The customer doesn't need a value proposition of countless pages that no one wants to read to the end, so select which data are truly relevant so that the interested person needs to close this trip with you as soon as possible. It simplifies processes and reduces the number of emails exchanged: send a PDF with a proposal, then the payment terms, check at the bank to check if the transfer has arrived... By that time you may have already lost the customer, so consider the convenience of organizing a virtual meeting with him to speed up the initial contact. For this purpose The Calendly tool can be of great help to you, don't stop trying it.
3.- Tailor-made. Find out what your client is looking for so that the trip you are going to propose to them is exactly what they have dreamed of. Adventures on wheels? Urban hotels one step away from everything? Excursions to get lost in? Only direct flights? Spanish-speaking guides? Those details are what make the difference, find out about them and don't forget to include them prominently in your travel proposal. Are you a receptive? Take another step towards professionalization and prepare the proposal directly with the logo of the agency you are servicing.
4.- Bluntly. Price is undoubtedly an essential element in any trip, so don't hide it in a remote corner of the last page: explain how much your proposal is worth and why, offer alternatives for the most expensive items and make it clear that it's not a fixed figure.
5.- Why with you? You have to make it clear that your trip is more than just a transfer from A to B, detailing what makes you exclusive: direct communication with the customer during the trip, answering questions, reacting to unforeseen events such as cancellations or delays, contracting services at the destination... We can all book flights and hotels on the internet, but an agency must stand out in its after-sales service with details that make the difference.
6.- Nothing here, nothing there. Hiding the least attractive aspects of the trip diminishes customer confidence, so don't let them get unpleasant surprises at the last minute: if your bags aren't checked in your reservation, detail them. If there are recommended vaccines at your destination, let them know as soon as possible. Tell him that his hotel is worth booking that breakfast that he hasn't included. Take that extra step that makes a difference, and show them that their proposal is 100% personalized.
7.- 404 error. Take care of, review and verify the data of your proposal so that it is up to date as much as possible. Don't recommend restaurants that closed, or a mediocre hotel if they've opened next door with more amenities for the same price. Is it a national holiday in the destination? This may not be the best time to visit it. Your proposal must always include accurate and up-to-date information. To achieve this, try not to present the proposal on static media such as a PDF, because we all know that the hotel can change, the pick-up time for the transfer will be updated, and we don't want to be forced to send the customer an email with version 88 of the same document. An ally in this regard is the CANVA tool, where you create your presentations and share the URL with the client or integrate it into your own website.
